P2P usage has become increasingly popular
A protocol that has existed for a long time and already at the time revolutionized the way we communicate and share information. As its creator, Bram Cohen, the burden shifts back to present a streaming system under a protocol similar to Bittorrent P2P can be a drastic change in the way people consume entertainment on the Internet. Cohen has made a first demonstration of his new project called Bittorent live. Streaming videos either live or not, high quality and with only seconds of latency.
Bram Cohen wants to kill television and who knows whether he’ll get, but Bittorrent Live looks very, very well. Cohen wants to live Bittorent give the final blow to a medium, television, that slowly seems to be becoming more and more obsolete. And not that it is because, since the rise of the Internet and especially since the launch of social networking has seen the TV ad spending is falling while going up on the internet. That tells us something important. Furthermore, the audience has changed, you know, look and choose what to watch and when you want to see.
Bittorrent live provides the means to make broadcasts of all kinds of events, and free or very cheap. Taking into account the possibilities Bittorrent Live offers totally free, no investment is needed before they can be broadcast to thousands and thousands of people as it does now television. It does so because the content is downloaded from different users who are watching the stream, that is, works as it does now downloading BitTorrent files.
Such is the advantage of services like Netflix or Hulu could benefit from Bittorrent Life, thus lowering costs. This P2P technology might even have to rethink the way they do business to websites like Ustream or Livestream, offering a similar service but is not free.
The important thing in running is the fow Live Bittorrent viewers. For it is in the audience that makes the content download, not a central source. Power to make the transfer of information depends in 99% of users and millions of viewers even if there is only 5 seconds of delay is something that has puzzled over 3 years to its creator. But now you have solved it and it’s really fascinating.
Cohen does not want to profit from his new creation, following the philosophy of BitTorrent. That is, a free and open protocol for everyone. Already working on a development SDK to use the protocol, and seeks to test its technology. For the time being in beta but you can download the client and try it. To do this simply go to the official website and follow the instructions.
Of course BitTorrent is a pint spectacular live and we hope we can soon see streaming of all kinds. The new VOD could be a reality thanks to this protocol, free money, interest and possible censorship. Do you think it will displace the TV?
