Amazon May Launch Its Own Smartphone to Compete with The iPhone
Fire the Kindle 2, which could be released in August, expect a tough battle with the Nexus 7 Google and possibly the rumored iPad-mini
Last Tuesday, an article in Bloomberg Businessweek claimed that Apple is preparing a smaller version of the iPhone, a rumor that previously reported in February, the newspaper The Wall Street Journal, and have been feeding in recent months, some bloggers and analysts. In fact, even some specifications have been leaked to the effect that it would be a device “7.85 inches with a resolution of 1024 x 768, identical to 9.7-inch iPad but small.” According to Bloomberg, the price will be $ 199 (the same as the Amazon Kindle Fire) and announced in the fall.
If this rumor was confirmed, and all indications are that it will, as has already been leaked that Apple suppliers in Asia are preparing for mass production in September or October, iPad Mini compete directly with Google tablet Nexus 7, filed just last week during the Google developer conference I/O and will hit Spain in September from 199 euros.
The picture drawn so far present a clear hit: Amazon Kindle Fire, introduced in September last year. The e-commerce company, however, seems to have prepared a quick and powerful response. It seems more imminent launch of Kindle Fire 2, which could come in August, reports and other publications, tech blog Mashable, citing a source in China Times. The battle of the tablets of 7 inches, then face the three Internet giants: Apple, Google and Amazon.
However, Amazon has it very crude in the market for tablets, since both the Nexus of Google as a hypothetical mini iPad improve the performance of the second version of its Kindle Fire.
That is why his great strategic move could result in another major market, in smartphones. So says today’s Bloomberg, which says that Amazon is still under development of a smart phone that aims to compete with Apple’s iPhone. The source cites “people with knowledge in the art”, and reveals that Amazon is already working with Foxconn, maker of the Kindle. The use Amazon’s smartphone operating system Google Android.
Additionally, the report said, Amazon also is considering the purchase of patents to avoid litigation for infringement of the same. These patents are related to wireless technology devices and the selected operator is InterDigital.
